Zoot Suit Dance Party October 28 2014, 2 Comments

This past Sunday Stevens Steak House hosted a great party reminiscent of the old school day with the Pachucos and Pachucas tearing up the dance floor. It was a great time dancing and listening to the Band keeping the rhythm.

Uptown Whittier Dia de Los Muertos Art/Music Fest and Car Show October 15 2014, 0 Comments

The Uptown Whittier Dia De Los Muertos Music/Art Fest & Car Show this year was the best one so far. Yolanda Garcia from Casita Del Pueblo has brought this show to Uptown Whittier and has made it a GO TO event. This shows 9th year has brought over 70+ Vendors, dozens of bands and artist, and over 150+ Classic Cars leaving no doubt that this event is here to stay and will be an event not to miss next year as they'll be celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary! We want to thank the SoCal Taildraggers for coming out to help organize the cars and for their continued support through the years. Also a big thank you to Jess the DJ (562-456-7039) that kept the crowd moving with his Old School Record Collection through the whole event! Also we want to thank Yolanda for allowing us to be a part of this event and already looking foward to next year.

Danny D's Pinstriping Workshop (July 12th 2014) July 14 2014, 0 Comments

This past Saturday the very talented Danny D held a pinstriping workshop that had a big turn out with some very talented guest artists showing up too. He had Bugs from Arizona, Manny (CSNRS Color Studios) from San Diego and Mr Jowee Rythym from West Covina and even our good friend Whyner and the "In The Street Magazine" crew came out to represent all the way from Arizona. Hand made Pizza from scratch was provided from Cristiano Bollini (Bollini's Pizzeria Napoletana)
Here are some pics from the workshop.

Tribal x Hurley "LEGACY SHOW" Coverage June 12 2014, 1 Comment

Those of you who live in Cali and are part of the car/bike/art and photography that thrive on capturing the
vibes from the scene will recognize the buzz that surrounded the Legacy Show. Held at the Hurley
Headquarters in Costa Mesa who along with Tribal Gear. Hurley and Tribal brought their imaginations together
to create a show that left you Hypnotized. The show had a feel of being at a home
away from home with cars and bikes cruising up and down the street bumping their oldies tunes giving
us a feeling of being back at Montebello Park on Whittier Blvd on a Sunday afternoon but with the cool
beach breeze flowing through the palm trees.
There was something around every corner to peak your interest. The skate park, surfboard sculpting, tee
shirts printing, poster printing and the main attractions, El Rey and the legendary Gypsy Rose.
Displayed in a room with the walls covered in a 70’s style throwback event posters made by Hurley Printing Press.
It was the place where the show goers, car owners and the artist gravitated to. Either to continually scan the walls
for a poster that popped or to talk in what felt like a room that gave an scence of being in
the church of Lowriding.
Thanks Bobby Ruiz (Tribal) and Hurley for this breath of fresh air in thinking outside the box to bring a show
that involved different scenes together but similar when it comes to creation of beautiful art and a love for it.
I read a quote by Albert De Alba Jr. (El Rey) that said, “It definitely is one of the best shows I've ever been to and It
was an honor for us to be apart of it”. Hurley and Tribal (Bobby) swung for the fence on their first pitch and hit a grand slam
with this event. We to are very honored and glad to have been selected to be part of this memorable show. We hope that Tribal
and Hurley team up again to make this an annual event.

LOW RIDING IS NOT A CRIME...unless you're in UPTOWN WHITTIER March 16 2014, 0 Comments

Last night in Uptown Whittier, there was a gathering unlike any other. The Lowdown in Uptown store held their first '70s-inspired Art Show at their store with an incredible turnout from the community. The Artists list was full of talent with artwork from @niteowl_arte @plastiqa @mr_edgutter @rudy_cheekoe_ruiz @saavedraandrew @richwestkoast @ungodlydistort @dadesigns @mandoislastattoo @josh415  @kustomz_gallery @artbyelrod  @mr_rhythm @noellereyes @cryptictattoo @japo @chato83_ @ and many more.

Everyone there was enjoying the Arte and the Low Riders lining the streets in all directions. Seems everyone and their mothers was having a great ole' time without a hint of attitudes from anyone except Whittier PD. Maybe it's part of the oath they take to Protect and Serve...and destroy Low Riding. I'm not sure, but it only adds to the resentment that the Low Riding community already has for not being allowed to enjoy and support this tradition. It was a great time none the less, and the Low Rider tradition will continue to grow and live on.

Our LAST visit to San Diego....till next year. December 31 2013, 0 Comments

We left the Whittier Boulevard at the crack of dawn to make our way to Sunny San Diego.  Our first morning stop was at our favorite taqueria, El Paisa in National City for their epic breakfast burritos.  Next stop, we head over to visit well-known San Diego car builder Manuel Munoz of the Viejitos San Diego CC, where Manny Cisneros, custom painter, pinstriper, and artist also dropped by to say what's up.  We took a look around at the projects that Manuel has going as we talked about what's going on in the lowrider scene here in SD.
Then off to another highlight of the day, the J&V Automotive Annual Shindig in Chula Vista. Manuel Munoz led the way in his Chevy Fleetline with the sound of glasspacks turning heads on the way there. As we've come to know and expect from the scene down here, there were some badass lowriders and kustoms cruising up and down the street in front of J&V Automotive with plenty of other cool rides parked in the show area. We captured some shots and caught up with some friends of ours, Bobby Tribal, Carlos and Victor De Baca, Richard Michael, and Nacho, "Mugrosas Garras," along with lots of car club members and friends.  After a good while at the show we had one more stop to make, the shop of good friend to Cruise It Magazine Rick Alvarez of RAA Leather. Nacho, "Mugrosas Garras" and Carlos De Baca dropped by. With Rick bumping the tunes past midnight we were surprised there wasn't a line outside the door to get into this party.
Needles to say, we lost track of time and ended up leaving San Diego near 2 a.m., which called for a double dose of energy drinks for the hustle back to L.A. This weekend visit didn't disappoint with the great weather, scenery, and insane, badass rides that have a distinct San Diego flavor all of their own.  Visiting our friends here in San Diego feels like coming home to familia. All our friends here have an open door for us to hang out, rest, and entertain.  Got home with another great memory of the SD that only has us looking for the next show down south. We finally made it home and looking to top this visit, which won't be hard to do.
Stay Classy, San Diego.
